Hi all,

Although many gave feedback about tinting from reputable brands like 3M, V-kool etc I was wondering if anyone has used Llumar before? I am considering installing the Llumar Diamond 6 for side windows and sunroof n Llumar Gold for front and back windows. I was also considering VesSolar which is a non branded brand. I've tried the heat rejection test, it seems to be a bit better than Llumar Diamond 6 which surprised me. The shop quoted me RM2450 for Llumar n RM2250 for Vessolar. So which should I go for?

Thks

You might want to also try Armour Coat from SolarGard (V-Kool). Half the price of Llumar and Vessolar. However it is 4 mil films.

I have the same set up in my other ride (Diamond 6 & Gold) but I find the Llumar heat rejection not good, when compared to VKool. but that is just my own observation....

That was what I experienced when I did the hand heat test. In fact the in house brand VesSolar had a better heat rejection. However, I noticed that some people were giving advice that choosing a good brande is important as the other important things like the glue that is used by the film manufacturer is also important. Other areas mentioned was also manufacturer warranty which plays an important factor. Llumar gives 10 years warranty compared to VesSolar's 7. Furthermore, VesSolar's warranty is only covered by the tint shop and if for any reason, they go out of business in the future, I will be having a warranty without a supplier giving me that warranty. Hence, I'm I can still find a balance of which tint brand to use here as the difference is only RM200. Any other advice offered would help a lot as I am planning to take the car for tinting tomorrow. Thks

It was a very hard decision to make. I ended up tinting using Llumar Gold for front and back and Llumar Diamond for Sunroof and side windows. So far I am happy with it. As you know these few days, there has not been much sunlight, hence I could not really test the heat rejection. But overall, the greenish tint of the film really make the car stand out and looks expensive (well, it was expensive :-).

hi, i did a 6 mil tinting. After the tinting on monday i noticed that there were some small bubbles especially at the back windscreen. I asked and according them it will dry up. just curious how long will it take to dry up. today the bubbles are still there.

my previous car was tinted with 4 mil and no bubbles at all. would it be bcoz it was 6 mil and it takes some time for the bubbles to dissapper.

thanks.

If it is air bubble, it will go off if u park your car under the sun. But if it's trapped dust, then either you get them to redo for you or you live with it. I kena these trapped dust on passenger side window twice, sent back to llumar to change the tinting again coz it's under 10 yrs warranty. But wasting time la.

The above is in fact what i did. Good tinting films are so expensive nowadays, mix and match to 'optimize' your needs/cost targets is one of the solutions to control your expense.

Sonata has large amounts of glass. So I used:
1. Vkool for best heat rejection (but expensive) for Front Windscreen & all Pana-roof where sun heat is most obvious to driver and passenger.
2. Armour coat 4mill secure film for all the side glass (where smash and rob is highest probability)
3. Solar guard normal type for rear glass. (The rear windscreen only starts after the rear passenger head so its not too hot)

Cant remember the cost, but I recall feeling a huge relief to my pockets compared to what i did in my previous cars with full vkool.

So far no compliants...
