AND GENTLEMENT
Good Afternoon, Firstly I with to say how hounoured
and privileged we are for Yang Berhormat Tan Sri Dato'Seri DiRaja Ramli
Ngah Talib, Deputy Minister of Transport Malaysia's, gracious acceptance
of our invitation as the guest-of -honour, and to perform the official
launch of the Kuala Lumpur Motorshow 2000 (KLIMS2000) Billboard this afternoon.
The luanch is significant on two counts:
-One it signals the start of our COUNTDOWN to KLIMS 2000 and our extensive
nation-wide A&P Campaign for KLIMS 2000.
-Two it flags us off to shift into 5th gear on the logistical operation
for the show -- the planning, co-ordination and managing of exhibits that
are coming in from all around the world for KLIMS 2000.
Following the Billboard launch today, a multi-million Ringgit nationwide
advertising and promotion blitz for KLIMS 2000 will take off -- over television,
print media, on the streets and major heavy pedestrian traffic areas --
shopping malls and complexes.
Currently, gross exhibiton space taken up has soared to 20,000 square
meters, expanded from the original three halls to a total of six halls
-- Tun Razak Halls 1, 3, & 4, Merdeka Hall, Tun Hussein Onn Hall and Tun
Dr Ismail Hall, with many more potential exhibitors on the waiting list.
We are targeting 500,000 visitors to KLIMS 2000, a modest 30 percent increase
over the previous 1994 show, which recorded a total tally of 380,000 visitors.
We are confident the targeted number will be scaled because of the quality
and fantastic exhibits that will be showcased.
Largely the exhibits are in the category of the KLIMS 2000 theme "Motoring
into the millennium". These are sure to excite and quicken the heart beat
of any motoring enthusiasts, whether they presently own a car or not --
the successful and the up and coming yuppies, the family oriented and
the veterans, the IT-savvy young and the technocrats of tomorrow.
For I can assure you that never has there been an automotive marquee equal
the one to be debuted at KLIMS 2000, come November.
- The latest world's creation from the sleekest, the most luzurious, to
the newest wagons-for larger family units to the funky and the most young-blooded
car models.
- Also expected for KLIMS 2000 are concept cars and special exhibits from
Toyota, NIssan and Mercedes-Benz, to name a few. Other car makers have
yet to release the information on their concept cars and prototype vehicles.
It's a must see event!
- In the area of audio, KLIMS 2000 will showcase for the fist time in
Malaysia some of the latest in the future of car infotainment, featuring
high-end multimedia system that combines the latest car navigation system
with futuristic multimedia applications and communications solutions demanded
by today for business of private use.
Ladies and Gentlement:
Keeping in mind the Malaysian Automotive Association's community objectives
for the show, we have strategically planned its staging to coincide with
the Malaysian schools' end of year holidays. KLIMS 2000 will be open on
November 25,2000 at Putra World Trade Centre and will be held over 10
days until December 4.
We have drawn-uup a good program for visitors' enjoyment to ensure a marvelous
and spell-binding one one-stop holiday destination for 10 whole days of
pure fun at KLIMS 2000 for all Malaysian motoring enthusiasts and the
thousands of tourists to our country.
Due to the lack of parking spaces around the vicinity of PWTC, however,
visitors are urged to commute to PWTC by LRT, bus, train, or to car pool.
Yes, Ladies and Gentlement, the excitement is building up and we ourselves
are thrilled to be directly involved in the action together with MAA,
the organiser and promoter of KLIMS 2000.
Thanks you.
