TT ROADSTER SET TO STEAL THE SHOW
At this year's KL International Motorshow 2000
at Putra World Trade Centre, one car is destined to "steal the show" --
the Audi TT Roadster (click to view car
pictures).
The provocative Audi TT Roadster, which makes its Malaysian debut here,
will be the star of the Audi stand. Audi will also be showcasing the new
and powerful Audi A4 1.8 T Avant and the exciting Audi A6 2.4.

Themed "passion", the Audi stand features an elegant wood and aluminium
structure - specially brought in from Germany and assembled by a team
from Audi headquarters.
Audi TT Roadster
To drive an open car is to be open to the world.
To drive the Audi TT Roadster is to enter another world: one in which
the eyes, the ears, even the sense of smell are constantly stimulated.
This two-seater open-top, sister to the Audi TT Coupé, which was launched
in Malaysia over a year ago to rave reviews, is a no-compromise sports
car with exceptional handling. It has a quattro driveline that distributes
traction to all four wheels, resulting in less wheelspin, more effective
tyre grip and directional stability. And therefore greater safety on every
kind of road.
The Audi TT Roadster has opened up a new chapter in open-top car safety.
This begins with the two-rollover bars behind the seats, which are not
only a striking design feature, but also an integral component of the
body structure.
Standard safety equipment comprises the Electronic Stability Program
(ESP) including Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), Electronic
Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR).
The turbo-charged inline four-cylinder engines with a displacement of
1.8 litres and five valves per cylinder have been made even more efficient,
yet does not affect the car's outstanding performance data: 165 kW (225
bhp) with maximum boost pressure of 1.8 bar absolute. Acceleration from
0 to 100 km/h is mastered in an amazing 6.9 seconds.
In the cockpit area, careful attention has been
paid to every detail, eg. the sports steering wheel and dashboard instruments
are emphasised with matt polished aluminium, while the upholstery can
be ordered in "baseball glove" leather.
The Audi TT Roadster is predominantly driven with its top down. The soft
top with its large heated glass rear window can be opened in a single-stage
process and stowed behind the seats. An electric soft top is also available.
Audi A4 1.8 T Avant
For those who have retired from the single life
and have started a family, Audi has just the thing for you. The new Audi
A4 1.8 T Avant with its huge storage space is ideal for family trips and
excess baggage.
Nevertheless, the Audi A4 1.8 T Avant's appearance is full of character:
a boldly emphasized radiator grille, ellipsoidal headlights with dramatic
clear-glass covers and ellipsoidal fog lights integrated into the front
apron.
The automatic air conditioning system, which takes the angle of the sun
into consideration, and ignition-key recognition, are standard features
in all versions.
The Audi A4 1.8 T Avant comes in 5-speed tiptronic as standard. This cool
tiptronic concept allows you to decide whether to change gears manually
or electronically.
The Audi A4 1.8 T Avant's full-size driver and passenger airbags, front
side airbags and side-impact protection in the doors, pre-tensioners for
the three-point seat belts, belt-force limiters at the front and belt
wear sensor on the outer rear seats continue to set standards in this
vehicle class.
Audi A6 2.4
With its unmistakable design, innovative engineering
and uncompromising quality, the Audi A6 2.4 has established itself among
the leaders in its market segment.
The saloon combines comfort with the fascination of a coupé. Thanks to
its excellent proportions - long wheelbase and short overhangs - it has
a larger interior, creating more space for the occupants or for luggage.
Striking features of the Audi A6 2.4 saloon are the smooth arc of the
roofline and neatly styled rear lights.
Its hidden qualities - a four-link front suspension provides more precise
steering, better handling and high resistance to driveline influences.
The torsion-beam rear suspension adds refinement and stability.
The Audi A6 2.4 offers as standard something that's often unavailable
even at extra charge in other cars: a feeling of security and prestige.
