KL
motor show to be held in Nov next year
Business Times
THE Malaysia Automotive Association (MAA) is gearing up 12 months ahead
when it announced on Tuesday that the Kuala Lumpur International Motor
Show 2000 will be held in November next year. Themed "Motoring in the
Millennium", the motor show is expected to fascinate Malaysian enthusiasts
the largest line-up of automotive models and accessories for the 21st
century from international and domestic manufacturers.
In a statement. MAA chairman Aishah Ahmad said the motor show to be held
from November 25 to December 4 2000, will be the biggest and most exciting
motor trade (experience to be held in this country). Many of the latest
motor vehicles are expected to make a debut at the event while newly-introduced
models will be put on display to pull in the crowd. Other attractive highlights
include the vast array of motor accessories and components. "More importantly,
exhibitors at the motor show will be able to show off their models and
accessories on a neutral ground for potential buyers to evaluate and confirm
their choice of purchase," she said.
Apart from the motorshow, a conference on the motor vehicle sector will
be held concurrently, focusing on the impact of the Asean Free Trade Area
(AFTA) on the local motor industry. "We need to discuss the impact of
AFTA on our motor industry in all contexts of the trade, including its
effects on the cross-sub sectors," she said.
The Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show, which first started in 1984,
is held once in four years. However, following the economic crisis that
badly affected the automotive sector, the fourth presentation did not
make an appearance in 1998. MAA also signed an agreement on Tuesday with
Trade-Link Exhibition Services Sdn Bhd and Interexpo (M) Sdn Bhd confirming
them as managers for the event. - Bernama
