The Malaysian motorsports scene will see a sudden rise in Supermoto action this year, with the FIM Asia Supermoto Championship 2012 third round set to be hosted at the PLUS Speedway Circuit in USJ, Subang on 9 December. Also launched for its inaugural season is the three-race 2012 Malaysian Supermoto Series that will commence in September.

“With the hosting of the Malaysian round of the FIM Asia Supermoto Championship and the organizing of this new local series, the very best of Malaysian riders will now have the opportunity to compete alongside their compatriots from within the region and this ultimately, will significantly contribute towards enhancing not only the competitiveness of local riders, but also go a long way in raising the profile of the FIM Asia Supermoto Championship as a whole,” said FIM Asia President Stephan “Mackey” P. Carapiet.

The FIM Asia Supermoto Championship is being promoted by MaxAsia Co Ltd, and starts its season late September in Indonesia followed by Thailand for Round 2 before arriving in Malaysia for Round 3. A fourth round is tentatively scheduled to be held at the Philippines in February 2013.
