Yeah, the M8 is driven from home to office by my wife (round trip of less then 20km/day). If i travel, my wife will use my car instead. The M8 is always parked indoors while at home and in my wife's office.

Recently, the M8 has some mysterious sound like it's the belt/chain while idling. Will need to get that check. Problem is that it comes and goes. Not sure how to diagnose this problem.

If sound from belt for just a while, then should be fine.

Although we have two cars and both work about 10km away from home, I try to make sure the M8 will clock at least 20Kkms a year. Otherwise, rugi with all the depreciation but underutilized....

I also have the krekk-kruuukk-krekkk sound when idling especially in the morning. May or may not be the belting.
Teighlour, what do you think this sound is?

Bro Mean, the M8 is always used for long distance drive, that's the best part of it and driven with comfort. I have got 22K km now and 1.5 years old. Still short of 30K km.

Well, hard to explain the sound la but something like screeching sound. I havent check with my wife if the sound is still there.

I had the same problem, apparently the sounds came from the connection between exhaust pipe. All you need to do is take out your phone & record it. Then switch off the A/C & sounds will disappear, continue recording while you repeat the switching on/ off. This was caused by low RPM in the morning or M8 not fire up for a period. Take the recording to SC & let the mechanic listen to it. However don't forget to bring along a headphone so the mechanic can listen it without any interference. I had it fix but it is still intermittent & some how not as noticeable as before.
My main issue is not the 'cricket' sounds anymore. My priority is Clarion GPS now. Most of the time the GPS frozen. Its OK if am in Ipoh but if I venture to KL or JB then I'll start cursing. I had it check & SC promised to change the whole unit. Excellence but after spending 6 hours the mechanic told me it is not the unit...is the antennae. Great! now what? Tell my boss I need another half day to fix the GPS? Better get a Garmin or Papago instead of wasting man-working hours. To add salt to wound, the mechanic found out leaking on the A/C...anybody reading this can do the maths.
Overall M8 is still the best choice for MPV & Ipoh SC tried very hard to please the customer. On the bright side, its under warranty. The main reason I'm writing this is to warn the owner or potential owner it is not isolated case & be prepare. There is no perfect ride...

Presently I'm out of town on project assignment. Me missus sent to SC last 3 weeks ago pertaining the A/C. The mechanic tried to explain however me missus not well versed in technical terms. SC suggested to wait for me & sort all outstanding issue i.e. GPS & A/C. Me mileage clocking at 45K, getting close to warranty coverage. You know what I mean...
